About Code For Kids
Code For Kids is a two to three hour event that aims to teach children aged 7-13 the basics of coding, technology and design.
Each event has a different focus so that your child can learn about what he/she is most interested in. Want to learn how your favourite video game works? Maybe you want to learn how to build your own?
We believe in encouraging every child's natural curiosity and creativity by giving them the skills they need to explore this new digital world.
History
The first Code For Kids (CFK) event was held in April 2013. It was a Scratch event aimed at 7-12 year olds. Scratch is a programming language created for kids and developed by MIT. It can be used to create basic video games. This is still one of our most popular events because the kids love being able to show off what they've made. In September of 2013, CFK was incorporated. This has allowed us to expand and help more kids learn to code.
Teaching What Schools Don't
Code For Kids offers a program that fills a niche untouched by traditional education. We offer kids a hands-on chance to explore the depths of technology and design. We are here to enable learning, not force it, so we believe in offering our events in an open, creative and supportive atmosphere.
Vision
We are a not-for-profit aiming to teach STEM curriculum to a younger generation growing up in an ever technologically advancing society. We believe in teaching our kids the skills and knowledge they will need to do well in their technology-rich environment. But we want to do more - we want to foster the creativity of the next generation and show them not only how to use technology effectively, but how to shape it.
Thank you for your interest in what we do. We can't wait to see you at our events!
Best wishes,

Our Team
We wouldn't be able to do what we do without the generous support of our generous sponsors. Sponsors truly are at the heart of what we do and wish to make our future a little more bright. Without the support of our community (local, national and global) we would not be able to teach as many kids the joys of coding and technology.
We welcome anyone who would like to help us out. If you think you might be interested, we encourage you to contact us so that we can help more kids learn code.
